Artificial logs consisting of a mixt. of finely divided material (I) and a solid combustible binder (II) also contain 1-50 wt.%, pref. 3-15 wt.%, of green or dried box or laurel leaves. (I) is e.g. chopped straw, sawdust, woodchips or cellulose fibre. (II) is e.g. paraffin or other wax. In burning, the leaves crackle and give off an aroma similar to natural logs.
