Lintel comprises one slab or component with another at a vertical interval from it resting on a row of building blocks on both sides of the opening, with two interconnecting rigid support pieces combining with them to define a hollow box-shaped section. One of the slabs or components (2), or support pieces (3, 4) incorporates a device (5), adjoining one face of the lintel, as seating for a building element. A rigid support piece may incorporate media for connecting auxiliary devices to the lintel, and there may be a retaining unit for fixture in the connecting media, attachable to the lintel by means of the auxiliary devices.
