<p>The apparatus for connecting fractured bones, consists of a plate (3) with holes (e.g. 7) through it for screws (4, 8), which is positioned over the fracture, and a block (9) which is placed on one end of the plate, one side of the fracture, ready for insertion of the next screw (8). This is used after screws (4) have been inserted in the bone at the far side of the fracture. The block has a recess underneath to clear the plate, and has two parallel holes through it for two rods (e.g. 13) extending from an end plate (15) to fit onto it. A dowel (20) is inserted in the block, to pass through a slot (6) in the end of the plate and into the bone portion (2) before a screw is inserted. The block has a small lug (21) projecting from its rear, underneath, which also locates in this slot.</p> |
