The box-like structural element (34) comprises two elements set at right angles to each other and containing plate-like members (1, 2, 5, 8). There is an angle reinforcement bar (6', 7', 9') in the corners to be coupled. It consists of at least two parts which are each firmly connected to one of the elements containing the plate-like members (5, 8) and when fitted together form at the same time the coupling for the elements so that no screws, nails or glue is required. The interacting parts of the angle reinforcement bar are preferably coupled together so that they can be released by sliding the bar in opposite direction. The structural elements can be made of any suitable material such as wood, metal or plastics. Although the structure can be easily dismantled, when assembled the corner connections are capable of withstanding heavy loads.
