A cuvette to hold liq. test samples has a plastic body and a cooperating metallic temp. regulating device. The latter conforms to the shape of the cuvette body, is built into its wall and has a narrow cross-section. A conventional plastic cuvette (1) to hold liq. samples has a transparent front face and measuring region (2). The wall spacing is determined by the optical path length desired. To reduce sample quantities, the measuring portion of the cuvette may be of restricted cross-section, with spacing chambers (6). In order to regulate the temp. of the sample, heating wires (16) are provided within the wall (4) of the cuvette. Alternatively, a continuous heating element may be provided.
