Antifriction bearing with overload protection - has races radially extended to form gap smaller than admissible incidental deformation

The bearing prevents deformation of the balls or roller due to incidental overload. The inner race (1) and outer race (3) with balls or rollers between is arranged so that while on one side the usual gap is maintained between the races on the other side both races are radially extended towards each other to form a gap (S). In case of a sudden overload of the bearing, the races deform, while the gap disappears and the two race rims touch to form an abutment and prevent further deformation of the races which could otherwise become permanent.
