High-voltage circuit breaker using only small amount of liq. (oil) has a quenching inset made from a single-piece press-moulding, arranged in an insulating tube, with machined or moulded cross-flow ducts and discharge ducts which open out into the pressure compensating space of the circuit breaker. It has a passage for the switch pin, has triangular cross-section, and is mounted in the insulating tube so that its sides bear upon the inside of the tube enabling the latter to define the discharge ducts and the pressure space at the inlet point of the cross-flow ducts. The passage for the switch pin is open between two adjacent sides. Part of the inset and the tube form the pressure space. At the inside of the insulating tube there are two longitudinal ridges. The inset is made of PTFE or polyester contg. organic fibres as fillers. The insulating tube is coated with PTFE lacquer.
