The inlet and exhaust ports face the same side wall (6) adjoin a cooling chamber (19) with two water inlets. The cooling water distributor chamber (22) is connected to the main cooling chamber by a supply channel (26). The supply channel extends from inlet and exhaust valve seat areas and is bounded by a central divider wall (25) running parallel to the cylinder head base. The cooling water distributor chamber has sufficient vol. for the mfr. of a core and enables the cooling water together with the feed openings to evenly cool the hottest areas. The central dividing wall is the only part to deflect the water flow.
