In order to damp the vibrations of the slider (10b) in a current collector arrangement with a relative movement between the slider and the track, a central portion of the slider (10b) is provided with a coating (12) made from an elastomer having internal friction. Elastomers of this type are silicone rubber or polyurethane. This serves to damp the vibrations (28) of the slider (10b), which are instigated by unevennesses of the track. This measure is particularly advantageous in the case of potentiometers, because the spring force is reduced and the friction on the resistive layer is thus diminished. The service life of such potentiometers is thus increased. <IMAGE>
