The variable transmission ratio drive has an input stage with two or more connected gear drive stages. The drive is used in machines for underground mining and for bogie drives and can accommodate shock loading. The input stage (1) is connected between the first (3) and second (2) output stages. The first output stage is connected by a hollow shaft (6) with the output drive (5) of the input stage and also by a torsion shaft (11) within the hollow shaft (6) with the second output stage (2). The input stage can be an angular drive or a helical gear drive.
