PURPOSE: To provide a plantain (Plantago asiatica Linn.)-contg. product for oral dosage having excellent appearance, palatability, taste, etc., and having the effect of normalizing the intestinal function and bowl movement by constituting the product of plantain husks having a specific grain size distribution and a suitable carrier material. CONSTITUTION: The plantain husks having the grain size distribution of <15%, by weight %, of the husks larger than 80 meshes, >=45% those within a range of 80 to 200 meshes and <40% those of <200 meshes are prepd. The plantain- contg. product for oral dosage is produced by mixing 1 to 99% such plantain husks and 99 to 1% carrier material (e.g. maltodextrin, sucrose) suitable for oral dosage. The water-soluble material is used as the carrier material and the resulted plantain-contg. product is dissolved in water, by which plantain- contg. drinks are produced. |
