The object is to produce a storage battery of high power, for example for vehicle propulsion, which has low weight. It can be achieved by employing a capacitor with a high vacuum dielectric as an electron store. The capacitor is typically of cylindrical form with a central positive electrode. The electrons are constrained to follow a specific orbit round the centre electrode which is determined by their velocity and by a magnetic field set up by an auxiliary coil toroidally wound round the cylindrical capacitor. The chosen velocity is well below the speed of light thus avoiding any relativistic effects. The pinch effect of the coil counteracts the natural repulsion between electrons.
