Underground electricity transformer and switchgear station - has adjacent pressure release chamber with vent grating, rain water drainage and pivoted explosion flap

The underground station may be used for distribution and/or generation of electricity, and includes transformer and switchgear with a medium-tension unit, transformer and low-tension unit. A blow-off and pressure release space is built on at least one side of the concrete structure. This has a venting grating cover at the top, and a bottom drainage opening for rainwater. A venting aperture of a cooling sector for cooled exhaust air from the station interior opens into it in the upper area, and below this a pressure release aperture closed by a swivelling flap. In the event of explosion the flap swings upwards, pref. to a horizontal position, to link the space with the station interior and seal it against the grating.
