Printing plate (2) of flexible sheet material is secured to a cylinder by a clamp bar (6) supported between the sides of a U-section bar (4) slidably support-on the cylinder. One edge of the plate (4) is fixed to the cylinder. The opposite edge is inserted between the clamp bar and one side of the U-section bar. A cam (13) is tightenable to tilt the clamp bar and thus grip the plate. Screws (16) threaded through the clamp (5) bar can be tightened to strengthen the grip and move the U-section bar to pull the plate taut.
