The footwear cover can be a shoe, boot, or sock and includes a metal conductor which lies between the skin of the foot and the earth to remove any electric charges from the body, which could be caused for example by wearing clothes of synthetic materials. The metal conductor can comprise a cylindrical sleeve with an inner thread in which a screw is fitted. It can also include a resiliently conductive connection cast into a rubber element which at each end has conductive seals of which one lies flush with the tread of the heel and the other flush with the inner lining of the shoe heel.
