<p>The distributor cap. is made of an insulating material and issued in an IC engine. It has ridges (8, 9, 14) between the parts (4, 6) carrying the ignition voltage and earth (5). These ridges increase the insulation path. Ridges are also located between parts under voltage and parts not under voltage. The ridges may have various shapes. The advantage lies in preventing contamination (dirt, salt, moisture etc) from reducing the insulation unacceptably.</p> |
