PURPOSE:To enable a larger size of a sensor with easy formation of a protective construction by covering a sensor body, a plate body and a conductor layer integral with a porous material to form the protective construction. CONSTITUTION:A sensor body 10 is made up of an ion conducting plate 11 made thin of a solid electrolyte, porous electrodes 12A and 12B formed on both sides thereof and a seal cap 13 covering a lower side of the ion conducting plate 11. A heater 14 is provided further below the ion conducting plate 11. The seal cap 13 is made up of a porous sintered body 15 made of an alumina powder or the like provided to cover one of the electrodes entirely and a glass layer 16 covering the porous sintered body 15 entirely. The sensor body 10, the heater 14 and the end of the plate body 17 are covered with a porous material 21 is package. After the sensor 10 is immersed into a bath of a ceramic based adhesive, the porous body 21 is formed by drying or the like on specified conditions. |
