<p>New N-cyanoalkyl-alpha-halophenoxy-isobutyramides are of formula (I): (where R1 is halo gen, n = 2-6). Cpds. (I) have hypolipaemic activity, e.g. (I, r1 = Cl, n = 2) is more effective in reducing blood cholesterol levels than nicotinic acid and more effective in reducing triglyceride levels than ethyl 2-(4-chlrophenoxy)-2-methylpropionate. In an example, (I, R1 = Cl, n = 2) is prepd. from 3-aminopropionitrile and alpha-(p-chlrophenoxy)isobutyryl chloride.</p> |
