In this device for short-circuiting two conductors of an electric installation, there is withdrawably mounted in a tube (1) made from insulating material a first terminal (5 to 8) on which there is mounted a preferably flexible connecting conductor (23) which runs in the tube. A second terminal (14 to 17) is mounted on the connecting conductors at a distance which corresponds at least to the distance of the conductors (10, 20) to be short-circuited. A short-circuiting cable (24) which is preferably guided in the lower tube end by a clamping device (25 to 27) to be operated by hand can depart from the second terminal (14 to 17). Two tubes (1), each having two terminals (5 to 8; 14 to 17) can be connected to one another via a short-circuiting cable (24) for the purpose of short-circuiting a plurality of conductors. The device is easy to manipulate and ensures perfect short-circuiting of conductors even if their distance deviates from the rated distance. The withdrawal of the first terminal (5 to 8) is performed solely by the weight of the second terminal (14 to 17), resulting in a saving of aids for this purpose and in the fact that the collapsed state of the device is adequately protected for transport. <IMAGE>
