PAM reduction and compression system - feeds signal to bank of filters switched successively by clock pulses
摘要

A communications transmission system includes provision for bandwidth reduction and signal comprssion by the suppression of non-information-bearing components of the signal spectrum to be transmitted. The signal (S) is fed through a bank (BK) of filters (F1-F6) connected in parallel. The filters have different pass bands and are connected to the output of a series of switches (Sch) in synchronism with pulses from a clock pulse generator (TG). The switches are fed by way of a series of band pass filters (BF) to an integrator (Su) in which the reduced frequency spectrum components to be transmitted are combined. After reception the transmitted signal spectrum is reconstructed. The transmitted signals may be fed to a further bank of filters (BK) to regenerate the original frequency relationship at the output and then to a further integrator (Su) to reconstruct the original signal.
