<p>An appts. for sepg. the first runnings, middle runnings and last runnings in the distn. of brandy or other spirits, esp. in concn. plants, operates by measuring the alcohol content and using it to control the distribution device. Pref. a conventional alcohol meter is used for the measurement; this contains a measuring chart (strip chart), which is partly transparent and partly opaque and acts as the obstructing slide for >=1 photoelectric devices, which actuate valves at e.g. 60%. 50%, and 5% alcohol levels. By making the valve switching operations automatic, errors resulting from failure to observe the correct time for sepg. the various fractions in the distilling process are eliminated.</p> |
