The echo cardiographic machine (12) operates at an amplitude mode combined with a TM mode so as to obtain two corresponding monitoring signals on a viewing screen (13). The machine, which is alongside the elimination table (24), has a remote control unit (19) which can be operated with one hand, while the sewing head (23) is controlled by the other hand. The machine has a second screen (14) above the first (13) and also a continuous graphical representation is marked on a paper strip (15). The second screen is a storage oscilloscope, and the signal can be frozen by means of the remote control unit. This unit has a set of sliders (20) for the controlling operations. The visible trace can also be shifted sideways for comparison.
