The curtain track has a section over a part of its length which can be lowered for easy attachment and removal of the curtains. The curtain track itself can comprise a locally fixed rail member (3) into which the detachable part (2) can be fitted to form an integral unit. This ensures that the curtain track does not sag since it is fixed to the wall or ceiling but that the curtains can be easily handled and moved along entirely into the area which is to be lowered. The locally fixed rail (3) preferably has a hollow (4) in which the lifting and lowering mechanism is stored. The drop-down section of the rail can be fitted with a snap catch (10) which can be operated by cable to ensure that the parts of the curtain track are locked together.
