The pressure arm for an endless belt sanding machine houses an interchangeable pressure distributor. The arm is of a uniform square inverted 'U' section (24) locating vertically orientated and longitudinally interspaced piston cylinders. C-shaped clips (28) are mounted on the piston rods (R) and located the pressure distributor. The pressure distributor is a composite bar comprising a felt pad (23) which is bonded to the underside of a steel sandwiched flexible tubular cushion (18). The top surface of the cushion (18) is covered by elastically yielding steel sheet, and the bottom surface by steel band with similar characteristics.
