<p>The colour television cathode-ray tube is manufactured by holding its electron gun with a pumping lead at the foot of the tube. The electron gun is pushed into the opening in the neck of the tube and the foot of the tube fused to the end of the neck. The longitudinal axis of the electron gun and that of the tube bulb are coincident, while the electron gun is placed in a definite position relative to the screen. The bulb of the tube is held in a fixed position and the electron gun held in another position by a holding mechanism which grips the electrodes.
