1521866 Fuel cell-removing reaction H 2 O SIEMENS AG 8 Feb 1977 [12 March 1976] 05195/77 Heading H1B A cell for removing reaction H 2 O from the electrolyte of a fuel cell comprises a first chamber 12 and a second gas chamber 18 separated by a porous diaphragm 11, the first chamber being divided into an electrolyte subchamber 14 and a smaller subchamber 15 by a cross-piece 13, the gas chambers containing condensation surfaces 17 which contact cooling chambers 20. In use, electrolyte passes into the upper sub chamber, H 2 O vapour passes through the porous diaphragm into the second chamber 18, condenses on 17, the condensate collecting at the bottom of 18 is forced through 11 into 15 by gas pressure in 18. The diaphragm may consist of asbestos, the diaphragm area which separates the lower subchamber from the second chamber is from 5-20% of the area separating the upper chamber from the second chamber. |
