<p>APPARATUS FOR CLEANING AIR FILTERS Apparatus is described for washing hollow cylindrical engine air cleaners or filter elements. Cleaning and pressure, flow, and leak testing are all performed by successive soaping, rinsing, and pressure testing with aerated water. An aerated flow of water onto the filter membrane forces water through a sound membrane, and a mixture of water and air bubbles through a membrane with a tear or hole to provide a leak test. An inexpensive aerating nozzle is provided. A spray tube inside the filter washes off dirt and aspirates air for leak checking. The tube is movable along the length of the filter for best cleaning.</p> |
