The flexible coupling comprising an annular block (c) with at least one elastomer or rubber element (7) which can be continuous or discontinuous. The block is placed between two disc plates (A & B) on separate shafts (not shown) one on the driver shaft the other on the driven shaft. The block axially compressed so that there can be engagement of the shafts without the need to move them. Clamping onto the annulus may be effected by drawing the plates together by screws (12). These screws are placed in the same holes as the fixing screws of the coupling on at least one plate. The block comprises at least two elastic elements (7) within a casing (3) fastened to one of the plates (2). These engage with a drive disc (6) fastened to the other plate (B).
