The machine for launching clay pigeons is mostly housed inside a sealed enclosure (1), mounted on a base (2). An electric motor drives a shaft (5) and pinion (6) on a hollow shaft (7). The hollow shaft has inside it a key (8) and a coaxial shaft (9). At the end of the shaft (9) are launching arms (11) and a crank (12). The arm holds the clay pigeon and the crank is attached to a spring (18). The upper part of the shaft (9) carries a ratchet wheel (21) and pawl (22) on the body. The motor puts tension on the spring, which is suddenly released and causes the clay pigeon to be ejected.
