<p>An assembly for texturing a thread by false by twist created as it passes between rotating friction disks, has a foundation plate with a socket the shaft of which is rotated by a tangential belt. The shaft stands vertically to the plane of the plate and four other sockets with their shafts parallel to each oter are driven by the first socket. Each shaft carries >=1 friction disk rotating on an axis at right angles to that of the socket. Adjacent disks overlap so as to form two zigzag paths for a thread running between a guide tube and an eyelet through the assembly. The five sockets are positioned in zigzag so that the axes of their shafts from the apexes of two triangles, and stand in two vertical planes. The thread guides are aligned to the centre points of the triangles. The sockets at the centre are fixed, but can be adjusted w.r.t. each other, whilst the outer sockets can be moved laterally at right angles to the axes of their shafts. Each guide tube has a cam turned by a handle to effect the lateral displacement of the outer sockets, which pivot on hinge points and move in apertures in the foundation plate. Each socket has also a shaft extending downwards carrying a toothed pinion, and toothed belts transmit the drive. Whilst exploiting the redn. in space required by having five shaft sockets forming two texturing stations, it is possible to adjust the distance between each socket so that all types and gauges of yarn can be handled, and easily threaded through.</p> |
