<p>The meal tray box which contains a complete meal of different courses which have been prepared in central kitchens and which in part are intended for micro-wave reheating at the place of use basically comprises a meal tray (1) which has recesses (4, 5) for the different meal courses or portions and which is covered by a cover tray (2) which has recesses (6, 7) corresponding to those in the meal tray. When placed on the meal tray the cover lid (2) forms a fully enclosed container with same which can then be easily stacked, stored and transported. The meal tray box and at least one of the recesses are made of a material which is permeable to microwave rays whilst at least one of the recesses in the tray and the corresponding recess in the lid are lined with an insert (14, 15) of a material impermeable to microwave rays eg tin foil so that the food in this recess can remain cold. The meal tray and lid can be connected together for easy opening and closing by an adhesive hinge strip.</p> |
