<p>A continuous press, for prodn. of chipboards, hardboards, plywood etc., has heated endless belts to transmit applied pressure and to draw the material through, plus outer heated flexible bands under tension which pass round drive drums/wheels to guide drums/wheels and the pressure area. These latter bands have an adjustable gap between the pressure table and the pressure platen, whose surfaces are smooth and have thermally insulating pressure cushions plus steel sheet to cover the cushions; the individual heating units of the flexible bands also have an insulating low-friction covering on their faces towards the stationary pressure areas. The thermal insulation eliminates thermal expansion stresses in the pressure table and pressure platen, the driving drums are not contaminated with low-friction materials, the low-friction coverings can be of any desired thickness for long life, the heat produced is held by the operating parts.</p> |
