Low height double decker bus - has lower deck incorporated in chassis frame design with longitudinal seats

The advantage is that within the normal height limitation (some 3.5 metres) for a single deck bus, it is possible to fit an upper and lower deck and thereby increase carrying capacity. The lower deck (7) lies below the frame chassis (4) of the bus and the upper deck (13, 14) includes a centre gangway (100) with steps from the lower deck. The door is behind at least one of the two sets of steps. On the lower deck the passengers sit sideways either with their backs to the vehicle sides or in the lower part of the chassis centre section facing outwards.
