The insert is of fibre glass reinforced plastic with an open top. A sheet of thermo-plastic material corresp. in size to the luggage boot floor and sides is heated at the edge region between sides and floor. The sides are then folded upwards and end pieces welded into position to form an open box. A tube shaped channel is provided on each end section to receive a fixing attachment such as a rubber handle. The material sheet has a width equal to the floor width plus twice the side height. The base length is increased to allow for the two ends.
