The flow cross-section regulation plate for exhaust gas and air circulation systems provides lower leakage rates than conventional louvre-type valves. The flexible plate (1,1) is moved on guide rails (1.3) along a straight or curved path across the flow cross-section of the channel (1.5). The plate comprises a single or double unit wholly or partly perforated, or consists of individual parts which are moved mechanically or by a motor using a rolling motion. The plate is made gas-tight at its points of contact with the units encompassing frame (1.4). The moment of resistance of the plate can be increased by the use of surface corrugations or profiles.
