<p>A device for breaking bottles ready for inclusion with other rubbish, taking up less room, has a housing (1) shaped to hold a bottle. This has a chisel shaped striker (15) on the end of a leaf spring (14) extending from front to rear of the cover (7). This rests on the end of the bottle (8). A swinging lever (11) has an inner end resting under the end of the leaf spring, and its outer end carries a foot pedal (12) outside the cover. When the pedal is pushed down, the inner end is raised lifting the striker with the end of the leaf spring. At a certain height, the striker is released and falls to break the bottle.</p> |
