In the formwork element used for construction of concrete sheathing walls, two hard foam panels are connected by space retainers with their edges moulded into the panels. The space retainers (1), of height corresponding to that of the formwork element, are made in ladder form, the side bars (2) being connected to reinforcing grids for the hard foam panels (7). The rung-type pieces of the spacers can be in the form of raised battens (3). The horizontally aligned bars (6) of the reinforcing grids can be hung in hooks (5) on the spacers. The spacers' side bars can have an inside edge (10) protruding out of the panels.
