Compressed gas lift mechanism for height adjustable seats - has interlinked ports of gas filled container and compression sleeve

The lift mechanism for the infinite height adjustment of seats comprises a cylindrical container (1) filled with compressed gas and closed at one end whilst a compression sleeve (12) is coaxially displaced in sealing manner from the other end. A valve system (21) on the compression sleeve (12) connects and separates a first housing part (18a) in the container (1) to a second housing part (18b), with one of these housing parts being permanently connected to a further housing part (18b', 18a') which is mounted in the compression sleeve (12) which has a gas-tight seal at its end outside the container (1) and is thus incorporated into the total gas chamber of the lift mechanism so that it is possible to reach a flat characteristic line with as a whole relatively large thrust forces and low gas pressures.
