1527216 Wheeled vehicle pneumatic transport systems GEORGIA TECH RESEARCH INSTITUTE 3 Feb 1977 [6 Feb 1976 12 Jan 1977] 04509/77 Heading B8A In a pneumatic transport system in which spillage from wheeled vehicles 16 is swept from the conveyer pipe 12 and through openings 34 in the bottom of the pipe 12 by the vehicles, the wheels are toed outwardly in order to keep the vehicle upright so that the wheels clear the openings. In one embodiment (not shown), the vehicle has load bearing wheels 36, 38 which are toed outwardly and sufficiently spaced to clear the openings. In another embodiment the load carrying wheels are close together and outwardly toed side wheels 40, 42 are provided, these wheels engaging the pipe when the vehicle is not upright so as to right it and also engages tracks 44 to support the vehicle during passage over openings 34. |
