<p>PURPOSE:To provide a modified porous cellulose material having many interconnected cells of a specified diameter and suited as a carrier for cell culture, etc., because of easy adhesion of cells thereto by molding a specified modified cellulose solution, freezing the molding and removing the solvent from it. CONSTITUTION:A cellulose solution is molded into any desired shape and frozen by cooling, and the solvent is extracted from the molding or deprived of its solvency to produce a porous cellulose material. Before, during or after the production of this material, the cellulose (porous material) is coated, blended or impregnated with a modifier (e.g. gum arabic or platinum) or chemically modified to give a porous material having many cells of a diameter >=2mum, separated from each other by films and interconnected to each other through the apertures in the films which separate the adjacent cells to form an interconnected porous structure.</p> |
