1521021 MoirÚ fringe measuring apparatus PITNEY BOWES Inc 5 Jan 1977 [30 Jan 1976] 00191/77 Heading G1A In weighing apparatus, the displacement of actuating rod 52 attached to the scale tray 14 is sensed by MoirÚ fringe measuring system comprising a light source 48, a fixed grating 40 and an array of photo-detectors, all mounted in a housing 38 attached to the rod 52, and a fixed grating 22 attached to a support member 24. The detectors are mounted in a line angled with respect to the direction of movement of the fringes, Fig. 5 on a disc 6 which is angularly adjustable so that their spacing can be matched to that of the fringes. The angle between the lines of the respective gratings is also adjustable by virtue of sleeve 44, carrying grating 40, which sleeve is angularly adjustable within bore 46. The detectors are spaced with respect to the fringes to provide a phase quadrature output signal.
