1520938 Drive to disc-type rotary regenerative heat exchanger NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd and TSUCHIYA SEISAKUSHO KK 4 March 1976 [11 March 1975] 8657/76 Heading F4K A disc type matrix (of a rotary regenerative heat exchanger for use in a gas turbine) comprises a spirally wound stack of a flat sheet metal strip 36 and a corrugated sheet metal strip 38 on a tubular hub (34), Fig. 2 (not shown). The outermost layer of the matrix is formed with the flat sheet metal strip. The matrix has circumferentially spaced recesses 40 through which rotational drive is applied to the matrix via circumferentially spaced springs 42 and a ring gear 46. The springs 42, instead of being U-shaped in cross-section, may be part cylindrical (Fig. 5, not shown). Strips 36 and 38 may be of 18-8 stainless steel. The part cylindrical springs may be of a heat-resistant alloy steel.
