A balanced flue gas fired room heater has a burner (11) supplied through a gas distribution box (13). The box has two valves (34, 40) which can be depressed by a push rod (30) and also by an electro magnet (TM). The burner is lit by operation of a lever (25) which energises an igniter (28) through a piezo-electric generator (PE). The lever also depresses the push rod (30) to an extent which opens one valve (34) while closing the other. This admits gas to a throttling orifice (46) fed from a space (38) between the two valves. A reduced flow thus reaches the burner. When the flame is established a and the lever released a thermocouple (TC) energises the electromagnet (TM) to keep both valves open and admit full gas flow.
|
