A woven girth, webbing, orthopaedic band, etc. opt. with elasticated warp ways, has a tubular selvedge outside the first warp thread of the fabric structure. Where the upper and lower branches of the tube join, it has a chain of stitches secured to the tube of the selvedge by the weft threads of its branches. The chain of stitches is located inside the space defined by the majority of the warp threads of the selvedge, and is pressed against the first warp thread of the band structure. In addn. the chain of stitches encloses a small number of warp threads whilst being itself turn enclosed by all the others. The chain of stitches is retained inside the tubular selvedge by the end of the loop of each double weft thread. The warp threads of the selvedge are enclosed intermittently by the stitch chain, according to the weaving pattern. The chain of stitches may be formed by an added thread or by means of the weft itself, and the thread forming the chain is textured.
|
