The on board loading arrangement for a ship is installed on a mast between the hatches. The mast has one heavy lifting boom and several light load lifting booms, the heavy duty boom being pivoted for working in succession over both hatches. The heavy duty boom is held by a forked base on a ring on the mast base, the light duty booms being pivoted on separate bearings on this ring. The ropes of the heavy duty boom run to the mast top, and those of the light duty booms run over pulleys on the mast sides. The heavy duty boom fork ring is arranged below a support for the light duty booms. The fork is profiled to clear the support when the heavy duty boom is in a vertical position.
