The reciprocating- or rotary-piston internal combustion engine draws in air only or a mixture, having fuel injection and high compression as with a diesel, and separate compression and power cylinders operating on the two-stroke cycle. The compression cylinder (1) has a smaller swept vol. than the power cylinder (7) and the smallest possible clearance vol. together with an inlet valve (3) or ports (22) above b.d.c. a transfer valve (4) to the combustion chamber (5) of the power cylinder, and external and/or internal cooling, thus giving aspiration and cool compression on max. pressure. The larger power cylinder has an outlet valve (9) or ports (23) above b.d.c. the combustion chamber being of the turbulence type. The cylinder head, the top part of the cylinder and the inside of the piston crown have insulation (10, 11) against heat loss taken as far as possible downwards, and also acting as or combined with a regenerative heat exchanger (12, 13).
|
