The sliding roof guide carriage (3) is mounted on the roof guide rails (1) and moved by a cable driven by a manual crank. The left and right hand guide rails are each provided with an arresting spring (6) working with a cam projection (8) formed on the lower part of each guide carriage. The arresting springs are fitted equal distances from the roof frame cross member. The arresting spring marks the sliding roof closing position and may have more than one depression (10) to mark different roof positions.
