<p>Tobacco, to be used in cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, pipe tobacco etc. contains powdered coconut shell (I) as an additive. The burning temp. of (I) lies below that of tobacco and it serves to convert 3,4-benzpyrene adn other similar carcinogens in burning tobacco to an innocuous form. (I) also serves to make the tobacco smoke taste milder. (I) is ground to a pref. particle size of 50-100 mu (when it adheres, on mixing with the tobacco, to the latter due the tobacco's moisture content). The pref. tobacco (I) wt. ratio is 9:1.</p> |
