The household water heater can be used with a beverage filter to make coffee etc. and has a height-adjustable riser in the area of the handle. The water heated in the heating chamber - which if formed by a partition above the base of the vessel and the electric heating element - passes through this riser to an overflow pipe which can be swivelled above a beverage filter provided the reflux from the heating chamber to the water vessel is prevented.
