The shopping bag is of weldable plastic sheet in hose form, with carrying handles formed by continuous strips of the wall material, joined at the ends to form loops. Part of the material of the bag wall is cut free between the walls, and the blank from which the bag is formed is folded inwards at the sides. At the top of the sides of the loops lugs are provided, with holes for hanging the bag on a bar or otherwise weakened where they joint onto the loops, or there can be such a weakened area at the hole edges.
